The training at MAC is great and doing the artistry is fun but job itself was awful. I was promised more hours when I started and for months and finally got told they couldnt give them all along. Myself and other staff were lied to continuously. If you didn't work with a great team the pressure would be too much. I actually loved my time working for Mac, but there was no opportunities for advancing and growing in the business - which i was told there was. I felt as if I was constantly fighting an uphill battle. Management was very uncoordinated - not from store level but above store level which also left us floundering at times. Higher management don't have a grasp on what the artists need and what the customer wants either, so they try to make you role out these 'amazing' new sales ideas when all they should be doing is creating the product that every other brand has had for years.
But, if it wasn't for the girls and boys I worked with I would have left long before. Bad Management. The management at MAC when I worked there was awful. Conflicts and dismissals were handled awfully and without sympathy. Would recommend to makeup artists looking to further their skills creatively but not to those looking for a long term position.
